Hey fellow doodlers! 👋

We’ve made whiteboard videos for just about everything—marketing, education, business training, you name it. But today, we’re diving into a topic that’s hitting home for a lot of people right now: health and wellness.

Let’s be real. December? Total chaos. 🎄🍪 Holiday feasts stretched for weeks, snacks were a full-time hobby, and the idea of “balance” meant eating one vegetable for every five cookies. 🫢

Then January rolled in, and suddenly, resolutions were everywhere. People were signing up for gym memberships, buying fancy water bottles, and swearing they’d start fresh.

Fast forward a few weeks... and, well… let’s just say some of those plans are still pending. 🕑 Gyms are quieter than expected. Meal plans are gathering dust. And the most consistent workout? Reaching for the remote.📺

Sound familiar? No shame—we’ve all been there. ✌️

But deep down, people want to feel healthier. They just need a little nudge. And that’s where your content makes a difference. 💡

If you create videos about fitness, nutrition, or wellness, this is the perfect time to reach people who are looking for a fresh start. Your message can be the spark that gets them moving, drinking more water, or finally committing to healthier habits. 💪

So today, we’re walking you through how to create a health and wellness whiteboard animation video using Doodly—step by step. You’ll see how to structure your message, bring your ideas to life, and make videos that actually hold people’s attention. 👀

And if you’re looking for ways to level up your content even further, stick around. We’ll also show you how Voomly Cloud gives you access to even more video creation tools, beyond just whiteboard animations.

Let’s get started! 🚀

Getting Started with Doodly

You have a passion for health and wellness. Maybe you're a fitness coach, a nutrition expert, or someone who simply loves sharing tips on how to live a healthier life.

And if you want to build a strong social media presence, video content is the way to go. But let’s be real—the internet is overflowing with the same kind of videos. Fitness challenges, meal prep reels, motivational clips… they’re everywhere.

So how do you get people to stop scrolling and actually listen to your message?

You show them something different.

That’s why so many content creators turn to whiteboard animation videos. The moment a hand starts drawing on the screen, people pay attention. The way it reveals each word, each image, stroke by stroke—it keeps viewers hooked, building anticipation with every movement.

And when it comes to creating whiteboard videos quickly and easily, nothing beats Doodly.

Why Choose Doodly?

With so many explainer video tools out there, what makes Doodly stand out?

For starters, many so-called “free” tools aren’t really free. Some limit how many videos you can create, others slap watermarks on your content, and many bombard you with ads unless you pay.

Doodly doesn’t do any of that. It gives you everything you need—without the hassle.

1. No Experience Needed – Just Drag & Drop

Ever tried using an animation tool that made you feel like you needed a degree in video editing just to figure it out?

Clunky interfaces, endless settings, confusing menus—before you even get started, you’re stuck watching tutorials just to learn how to add a single image to the timeline.

That’s not how Doodly works.

  • Drag and drop characters, props, and text directly onto your canvas.
  • Automatic animations. Doodly makes sure your elements are revealed naturally, so you don’t have to tweak every second manually.
  • No complicated controls. Everything is where you need it, when you need it.

In just minutes, you can build a scene, add text, and bring your message to life—without ever touching complicated timelines or layers.

2. Everything You Need, Already Built-In

Yes, you heard that right! Doodly comes fully loaded with everything you need to create a complete video from start to finish. No need to search for graphics, hunt down background music, or spend hours designing assets—it’s all inside Doodly, ready to go.

Everything is built to make your video look polished and professional—without the effort.

3. More Than Just Whiteboard Animations

Now, here’s another great feature.

When people think of whiteboard videos, they usually picture a plain white background with a hand sketching out text and images. That’s the classic whiteboard animation style, and it’s great for creating clean, professional, and easy-to-follow videos. But sometimes, you might want a look that better fits your content. Maybe something bolder, more modern, or even interactive.

With Doodly, you’re not limited to just one background. You can choose from multiple board styles, each giving your video a distinct personality.

  • Whiteboard Mode – The most popular option, perfect for corporate training, business presentations, explainer videos, and educational content. Its clean, professional look makes it easy to focus on the message without distractions.
  • Blackboard Mode – Ideal for school-themed presentations, chalkboard-style lessons, or a more vintage, nostalgic feel. This style works well for educators, coaches, and motivational content.
  • Glassboard Mode – Creates the effect of drawing on a transparent glass surface, where the hand appears behind the visuals. This sleek and modern style is great for corporate videos, medical content, or anything that needs a high-tech, polished feel.
  • Green Screen Mode – Gives you total flexibility to overlay animations onto other videos or backgrounds. If you need to add your Doodly animations to live-action footage or want full control over branding and customization, this is the perfect option.

Choosing the right board style can completely change the mood of your video, helping you connect with your audience in a way that feels natural and engaging. It’s all about matching the visuals to your message to make sure your content stands out and resonates.

4. Built-In Voiceover & Subtitle Options

A great video isn’t just about visuals—it’s about how you deliver your message. The right voiceover can make your content more engaging, personal, and easy to follow. But recording and syncing audio in most animation tools? That’s where things usually get frustrating.

With Doodly, it’s effortless. You can record your voice directly inside the software or import a pre-recorded voiceover if you prefer professional narration. Everything stays in one place, making it simple to match your audio with your animation.

And here’s something you might not know—Doodly also includes a built-in subtitle feature.

  • Use subtitles as captions – Perfect for accessibility and for viewers who watch videos on mute.
  • Use subtitles as a script guide – No need to keep a separate document. Your script can appear on-screen while recording, helping you stay on track.
  • Toggle subtitles on or off – If you only need them for recording purposes, you can hide them from the final video.

This means no more second-guessing your lines or fumbling through notes. You see exactly what to say as your video plays, making the recording process smoother than ever.

5. HD Video Export – Perfect for Any Platform

High-quality visuals matter. A blurry, low-resolution video won’t hold attention—especially when people are used to crisp, professional-looking content. That’s why Doodly lets you export your videos in full HD (1080p), ensuring they look sharp no matter where you share them.

But here’s something to keep in mind: shorter videos tend to perform better.

People’s attention spans are shrinking, and long-winded explainers often get skipped. Whiteboard animations are meant to be quick, punchy, and to the point—usually less than a minute long is ideal. That’s just enough time to deliver your message without losing engagement.

With Doodly, you have full control over your export settings:

  • Choose the resolution – Export in 480p, 720p, or full HD 1080p.
  • Adjust frame rates – Select between 24, 30, or 60 fps for smooth animations.
  • Optimize for different platforms – Create videos in different sizes, making them ideal for YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, or presentations.

Need a short, eye-catching social media post? Doodly has you covered. Creating a detailed, high-quality video for a presentation or YouTube? You’ll get crisp visuals that keep your content looking professional.

And that’s just the beginning. These are some of the top features, but there’s so much more to explore inside Doodly. Once you start using it, you’ll discover even more tools, settings, and creative options that help make your videos stand out. From custom draw paths to advanced animation tweaks, Doodly gives you everything you need to bring your ideas to life.

Now that you know what Doodly can do, let’s get into the fun part—creating your health and wellness video, step by step.

Step-by-Step Walkthrough: Creating a Health & Wellness Video

Now that you know what Doodly can do, it’s time to put it into action.

For this walkthrough, we’ll be creating a whiteboard animation video titled: “Five Easy Ways to Stay Healthy in 2025”

This type of video is perfect for social media, online courses, or company wellness programs. It’s engaging, informative, and easy to follow—exactly what you want in a health and wellness video.

But before we start clicking around in Doodly, there’s one important step that will make the entire process easier and that is to have your script ready.

Ask any video creator, and they’ll tell you the same thing—a solid script is key.

Without one, you’ll find yourself stuck halfway through, unsure of what to add next. With a script, everything flows. You’ll know exactly what to say, what visuals to include, and how each scene should transition.

Think of it as a blueprint for your video. It saves time, removes guesswork, and helps keep everything structured.

For this example, here’s the script we’ll be using:

This script keeps things clear, concise, and engaging—which is exactly what you want in a whiteboard animation. Each point is broken down into simple tips, making it easy for viewers to understand and remember.

Now that we have our script, let’s move on to the fun part—bringing it to life with Doodly!

Setting Up Your Canvas & Title Scene

Before you start creating individual scenes, you need to set up your workspace and build a strong title scene that introduces your video. This is what viewers see first, so it should be clear, engaging, and well-structured.

Creating a New Project & Choosing the Right Canvas

Open Doodly, and on the main dashboard, click Create New Video to start a fresh project. The first thing you’ll need to decide is the canvas size. Since we’re creating a social media-friendly health and wellness video, the best option is a Square Canvas. This format works great for Facebook, Instagram, and other social platforms, ensuring that your content is properly displayed without awkward cropping.

To select the right format, look for the Resolutions dropdown menu. Click it, and from the list of options, select Facebook & Instagram. This will automatically set your project to a square resolution, making it perfect for multiple platforms. Once that’s done, your blank workspace will appear, and now we’re ready to build the title scene.

Designing the Title Scene

The title scene is what sets the tone for the entire video, so it needs to be clear, visually appealing, and informative. Start by adding your main title. On the left-side toolbar, click Text, choose the font style you want, drag it to your blank scene then type: Five Easy Ways to Stay Healthy in 2025.”

Once the text appears on the canvas, you can customize it to fit your video’s style. Feel free to adjust the font style, size, and color to make it stand out.

Next, let’s bring in your branding elements. Head over to Props, which you’ll find in the left-side toolbar. At the bottom of this panel, click the blue “+” icon to import your logo file. Once it’s uploaded, adjust its size and position to complement the title text without overpowering it.

For an extra touch of branding, you can add a subheading just below the logo. Click on Text again, and type something like: Brought to you by Jackie at Acme Fitness Studio. This adds a professional touch to your video while reinforcing your brand identity.

Applying Animation & Adjusting Timing

By default, Doodly animates each asset by drawing it over a span of 3 seconds. While this works for most cases, sometimes you may want certain elements to appear faster or slower to better match the pacing of your video.

To adjust the animation timing, look at the Layers Menu on the right-hand side of your screen. Here, you’ll see all the elements in your scene stacked in the order they appear. Click on any text, prop, or image, and under Duration, modify the time to control how long the animation lasts. If you need an asset to appear later in the scene, adjust the Delay to set when it should start animating

You can also change the order in which elements appear. Simply drag and reorder the assets in the Layers Menu, making sure that the most important elements (like the title text) appear first, followed by supporting details like the logo and subheading.

Now that the timing and sequencing are set, it’s time to preview how everything looks before moving forward.

Previewing & Fine-Tuning the Scene

One of the biggest advantages of Doodly is that you can preview your scene at any time and make adjustments on the fly. Instead of guessing how it will turn out, you can actually watch how your animation plays out before finalizing it.

To do this, look at the upper left corner of your screen, where you’ll see the Show Preview icon. Click it, and Doodly will generate a quick playback of your animation. Watch closely—this is where you can catch any timing issues, overlapping text, or assets appearing too quickly or too slowly.

If something doesn’t look right, simply go back to the Layers Menu and make the necessary tweaks. Adjust the animation speed, rearrange layers, or modify the size and positioning of text and props. Once you’re happy with how everything flows, it’s time to move on to customizing how imported assets appear.

Modifying Import Settings for Custom Assets

Not every element in your video needs to be drawn. For example, logos, background images, or certain decorative elements may look better if they fade in smoothly rather than being sketched out.

To change how an asset appears, click on the imported element (such as your logo), and you’ll notice a small pencil icon appear on top of it. Click this, and it will open the Edit Asset Screen. Here, you’ll see an option labeled Reveal Mode—click it and select Fade instead of Draw. This will create a soft, professional fade-in effect instead of the standard hand-drawn animation.

This setting is especially useful for logos, icons, or background images that don’t need to be drawn by hand. Once applied, preview your scene again to ensure the effect looks natural.

Customizing the Hand Style

Doodly allows you to customize the hand animation used in your video. This is a small detail, but it makes a big difference in how the animation feels.

To change the hand style, go to the top right corner of your screen and click on Video Settings. Look for the Hand Style option, where you can:

  • Select different hand types (male/female).
  • Choose from various skin tones to match your audience.
  • Opt for a “no-hand” animation for a cleaner, modern look.

Pick the style that best suits your video’s theme, then preview your scene one last time to see how it all comes together.

Final Check & Saving Progress

Before moving on to the next scene, make sure everything is polished and ready to go.

  • Play the preview one last time to check for smooth transitions.
  • Tweak the animation timing if needed—sometimes small changes can make a big impact.
  • Save your project to avoid losing any progress.

And that’s it—your title scene is complete! 🎬

With the introduction done, we’re ready to start working on the first health tip.

Creating Scenes for Each Health Tip

Now that we have our title scene ready, it’s time to build out the core content—the five health tips.

Since each tip follows the same visual style and formatting, there’s no need to manually recreate every scene from scratch. Instead, we’ll duplicate the first tip scene five times, making small modifications to each one. This approach keeps the design consistent, saves time, and ensures the video flows smoothly.

Tip #1: Drink Eight Glasses of Water a Day

Start by creating a new scene and adding the first health tip: Drink Eight Glasses of Water Daily.

To do this, go to the Text tool and type: “Drink Eight Glasses of Water Daily”. Keep the font style, size, and colors the same as the title scene to maintain consistency. If necessary, resize the text so it fits neatly on the canvas.

Next, we need to add visual elements that reinforce the message.

  • Open Props and search for “Water” in the search bar.
  • Select a water bottle icon and place it beside the text.
  • Duplicate the water bottle eight times to represent the daily water intake recommendation.

To keep the bottles aligned perfectly:

  • Hold down Shift and select all eight bottles.
  • Right-click and choose Align > Align Bottom to ensure they are evenly placed.
  • Space them out neatly to make the layout look balanced.

Now, let’s apply animations. By default, Doodly will draw each object, but for a cleaner effect, we’ll change this for the water bottles.

  • Click on a water bottle, then select the pencil icon to open the Edit Asset screen.
  • Under Reveal Mode, change the setting from Draw to Fade.
  • Set the animation duration to half a second per bottle to keep the pacing smooth.

Preview the animation to ensure that the text appears first, followed by the bottles fading in one by one. Once everything looks good, save the scene.

Duplicating the First Scene for the Next Tips

Since all five tips follow the same structure, we can save time by duplicating the first tip’s scene.

To do this:

  • Click on the first tip scene in the timeline.
  • Right-click and choose Duplicate.
  • Repeat this process four more times so that you have a total of five identical scenes.

Now, we’ll replace the text and props for each health tip while keeping the layout and animation structure intact.

Tip #2: Exercise for 30 Minutes Per Day

Now, let’s modify the second scene to reflect the next tip: Exercise for 30 Minutes a Day.

First, click on the duplicated scene and change the text to “Exercise for 30 Minutes a Day”. Make sure the font, size, and color remain the same.

Next, replace the water bottles with exercise-related visuals.

  • Open Characters and search for “Fitness”.
  • Select a character performing a workout pose (such as jogging, yoga, or lifting weights).
  • Add a stopwatch by searching for “Clock” in Props.

For the animation, keep the character set to Draw Mode while changing the stopwatch to Fade Mode. This creates a natural flow where the character is drawn first, followed by the stopwatch appearing.

Preview the animation to check the pacing, then save the scene.

Tip #3: Eat More Fresh Fruits & Veggies

For the third tip, update the text to: “Eat More Fresh Fruits & Veggies”.

Next, swap out the previous props with colorful fruits and vegetables:

  • Open Props and search for “Fruit”.
  • Select apples, berries, carrots, or other colorful produce.
  • Arrange them neatly around the text for a visually engaging layout.

Since fruits and vegetables look better in color, let’s enable Doodle Rainbow Mode:

  • Click on each fruit prop, then toggle Doodle Rainbow ON.
  • This ensures the colors remain vibrant, making the video more visually appealing.

Once the layout is finalized, set all fruits to Draw Mode and preview the animation to check the pacing.

Tip #4: Get 7 to 9 Hours of Sleep

For this scene, update the text to: “Get 7 to 9 Hours of Sleep”.

Now, let’s add a character that represents sleep:

  • Open Characters and search for “Sleep”
  • Choose a character lying down or resting on a pillow.

To enhance the sleeping effect, let’s add a fun custom animation with “Z” symbols:

  • Use the Text tool to type “Z”.
  • Duplicate it three times and resize each one slightly to create a drifting effect.
  • Angle the letters diagonally to give the illusion of sleep movement.

For the animation:

  • Set the character to Draw Mode.
  • Set each “Z” to fade in one by one with a 0.2-second delay.

This creates a smooth, gradual effect that makes the scene more dynamic and engaging.

Tip #5: Take Time to Relax & Reduce Stress

For the final tip, update the text to: “Take Time to Relax & Reduce Stress”.

Now, let’s add a character in a relaxing pose:

  • Open Characters and search for “Relax”.
  • Choose a character meditating, sitting peacefully, or stretching.

Since this is the final scene before the conclusion, we’ll extend the duration slightly to allow for closing remarks.

  • Open the Scene Settings and increase the scene duration to 7 seconds.

Once the layout is ready, preview the full animation to check for consistency and smooth transitions.

Final Scene: Closing Message

Now that all five tips are complete, let’s add a final scene that wraps up the video professionally.

This scene will feature a simple, text-based layout with branding elements:

  • First Line: “Feel Healthier” (H2, Black, Acme Regular font)
  • Second Line: “Happier” (H1, Blue, Acme Regular font)
  • Third Line: “And More Energized!” (H3, Black, Acme Regular font)
  • Logo Placement: Insert your brand logo below the text.
  • Website URL: “www.AcmeFitness.com” (H4, Black, ArchitectsDaughter-Regular font)

Once this final scene is added, preview the entire video from start to finish and make any final adjustments.

Now that the main content is complete, let’s move on to Adding Voiceover & Background Music to enhance the overall experience.

Adding Voiceover & Background Music

Now that all five health tips and the final scene are in place, it’s time to bring everything to life.

A great whiteboard animation isn’t just about visuals—sound matters too. A clear voiceover helps guide the audience, while background music sets the mood and keeps the video engaging.

Let’s go step by step through the voiceover options and how to add the right music track for a polished, professional result.

Adding Voiceover

A voiceover gives your video a personal touch, making it easier for viewers to follow along with the information. You have two ways to add narration in Doodly:

1. Import a Pre-Recorded Voiceover

If you’ve already recorded a voiceover using another tool—like Audacity, Adobe Audition, or even your phone’s voice recorder—you can easily import it into Doodly.

  • Click on the Sounds tab in the left-side menu.
  • Click the blue “+” button to upload your voiceover file (MP3 or WAV format).
  • Once uploaded, drag the audio file into the timeline and position it at the start of the video.
  • Play the preview to check if the voiceover syncs well with the visuals.

If the narration feels off-sync, use the timeline controls to adjust the placement. You can also add delays between scenes to ensure the voiceover flows smoothly with the animations.

2. Record Directly in Doodly

Don’t have a pre-recorded voiceover? No problem—Doodly lets you record narration directly inside the platform.

To record your voiceover:

  • Click on the “+” button in the timeline under the Sounds tab.
  • Select “Record”, and a microphone icon will appear.
  • Click Record and start speaking. As you talk, Doodly will play your video in the background, helping you sync your narration to the animations in real time.
  • Click Stop when you’re done. The recording will automatically appear in the timeline.

📢 Did You Know? Doodly Has a Built-In Script Guide!

Reading from a script makes narration easier, but memorizing lines can be tricky. Fortunately, Doodly has a built-in subtitle feature that lets you read along while recording.

  • Enable subtitles as a script reference—this way, you don’t have to guess what to say next.
  • Want subtitles visible in the final video? Keep them on for added accessibility.
  • Prefer a clean look? Just toggle subtitles off after recording.

This is a game-changer for voiceovers—it lets you focus on speaking naturally instead of scrambling to remember lines.

Adding Background Music

A well-chosen music track makes your video more engaging and professional. It fills in the gaps between spoken words and adds energy to the pacing of your animation.

Here’s how to add the perfect background track:

  • Click on Sounds > Music in the left-side menu.
  • Browse the built-in royalty-free music library and choose a track that fits the tone of your video.
  • Drag the selected track into the timeline, positioning it below the voiceover.

Now, let’s fine-tune the music settings to ensure it doesn’t overpower the narration.

  • Lower the volume to around 10% so the voiceover remains clear. Click on the music track, then adjust the volume slider in the Audio Settings panel.
  • Trim the music track to match the length of the video—cut off any extra audio that extends beyond the final scene.
  • Add a fade-out effect at the end for a smooth transition. To do this, right-click on the track and select Fade Out.

Once everything is in place, play the video preview to ensure the voiceover and background music blend well. If the music feels too loud or too soft, adjust the volume accordingly.

With everything synced, we’re almost done! Now, let’s fine-tune the final details and export the video.

Final Adjustments & Exporting

Before exporting the final video, it’s important to watch the full preview and make any necessary adjustments.

Here’s a final checklist to ensure a polished result:

  • Check animation timing – Watch the video to see if each scene flows naturally.
  • Adjust any delays – If certain transitions feel too fast or too slow, add or remove small pauses.
  • Fine-tune drawing speeds – Make sure no scenes feel too rushed or too slow.

Once you’re happy with how everything looks and sounds, it’s time to export your final video.

  • Click the Export button at the top right corner of Doodly.
  • Choose your preferred resolution—for the best quality, select 1080p Full HD.
  • Adjust the frame rate (30 or 60 fps) depending on your needs.
  • Click Render and let Doodly process your final video.

📢 Pro Tip: Keep Your Video Short & Engaging

People have short attention spans, so keeping your video under one minute is ideal. Short, to-the-point animations work best—especially for social media!

Once the export is complete, you can download your MP4 file and share it across social platforms, websites, or internal company presentations.

And that’s it—your Doodly health and wellness video is complete! 🎉
